A Seat At The Table

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will [a]dwell in the house of the Lord - Psalm 23:5-6

Have you ever been invited to dinner at someone else’s home? Where the host/ owner of the house prepares a table for you? Where all the food, drinks, dinner, plates, etc. are already set up waiting for you? Where you are served and do not have to do anything? All you have to do is show up? The host is just waiting for you to show up so they can cater to you. What if I told you God has a beautiful table prepared for you with everything laid out for you but He is just waiting for us to accept the invitation and dine with Him? He is yearning for us to take a seat at His table so He can cater to us. God is saying, “Everything you need is at this table and I am ready to take care of you.”

Now I do not know what you are asking God for or what your needs are, but God is saying, “it’s right here at the table. Take a seat. The table is set.” God is waiting for us. Many times we say, “God I am waiting for you to move” but in reality God is waiting at the table for us. There is a table waiting for us in His presence, we have a place to run to. We have a place where we can find peace in the midst of any tribulation. If we feel like we are running aimlessly and we just keep getting spiritual attacks and everything is going wrong, God is saying “I have sent you an invitation to sit at my table. Will you accept it?”. God has set His finest linens and tableware and there is a seat with your name plate on it. There will always be a seat available for us at His table.

At this table we find rest from our accusers. In this table we find intimacy with the Lord. At the table we find rest. If we are finding we need rest, His table is waiting. When we are running dry it is at His table that we are filled again. When we are running on empty this is where we go to get refueled again. The word says, “You anoint my head with oil, my cup runs over“. In other words this is the place where we are filled, the place where we find intimacy with the Lord and the place where we can find His presence. If you are running on E (empty) and do not know what to do, where to go or how to refuel again, God has extended an invitation to take a seat at His table. He wants to fill your cup once again.

How do we remain constant and firm in the Lord? How do we remain faithful to God? The answer is “we don’t”. He does! He remains constant, He remains good, He remains firm. He remains faithful to us and prepares a table for us so that when we are discouraged, have no strength, have trouble remaining faithful, when we can’t stand firm that we may find refuge in His presence. A place where He can refill our cups when they are running low/dry. This is how you remain firm, not by your own strength but by His. He fills our cups so that they may never run dry in His presence. So if we feel like we are running dry it is because we have not accepted His invitation to fill our cups. The key to dwelling in His house forever is knowing that we cannot do this alone, for we would fail miserably. It’s knowing that we need to constantly depend on God and have a seat at His table. It’s amazing to know we serve a God that is this invested in us. A God that wants to be connected to His people daily. He makes himself available to us at all times.

Will you accept that invitation to the Lord’s table today? Would you accept the call to intimacy with the Lord today? When persecuted? When in tribulation? Will you accept to dine with the Lord at His table? When the enemy tells you there is no hope and no where to run to, the Lord says, “Sit at my table.”

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. - Matthew 11:28

Sincerely,
Eli<3
